Letter to the Editor

Georgia legal community mourns loss of Lee Sexton

Henry Herald, McDonough

To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime McDonough resident and Stockbridge attorney Lee Sexton after his passing on Aug. 26.

A member of the Georgia Bar since 1981, Mr. Sexton was nationally known as a leading criminal defense attorney. A dedicated professional, he frequently handled pro bono cases for those who could not afford to pay for representation in court, and he mentored many young Georgia lawyers during his career. He also served the profession as president of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and his country as an Air Force veteran.

Lee Sexton’s exemplary career is an inspiration to all members of the legal community. We are appreciative of his many generous contributions to the cause of justice in our state. He will be missed and fondly remembered.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
