Letter to the Editor

Georgia legal community mourns loss of Ben Mills Jr.

The Herald-Leader, Fitzgerald

To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Fitzgerald attorney Ben B. Mills Jr. after his passing at the age of 89.

A member of the Georgia Bar since 1959, Mr. Mills was actively engaged in the practice of law in Fitzgerald for more than 58 years, serving for several years as county attorney for Ben Hill County. A leader among his peers, Mr. Mills was a past president of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and had served on the Disciplinary Board of the State Bar of Georgia. He also served his country as an Army veteran.

Ben Mills Jr.’s long and exemplary lifetime of service is an inspiration to all members of the legal community. We are appreciative of his many generous contributions to the cause of justice in our state. He will be missed and fondly remembered.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
