To the Editor:

The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Kenneth B. Followill of Columbus on his passing at the age of 87.

A member of the Georgia Bar since 1960, Judge Followill began his legal career in Columbus with the Law Offices of Thomas W. Starlin and was subsequently elected as city solicitor and, later, judge of the Muscogee County State Court, during which time he served as chair of the state’s first Judicial Council. In 1978, he was appointed as a Superior Court judge for the Chattahoochee Circuit, covering Chattahoochee, Harris, Marion, Muscogee, Talbot and Taylor counties. He served in that capacity for 31 years, the longest in Georgia at the time and in the 182-year history of the Chattahoochee Circuit.

The exemplary life and career of Judge Kenneth Followill is an inspiration to all Georgia lawyers and judges. We appreciate and will remember his many contributions to the cause of justice in our state.

Sincerely,

Sarah B. “Sally” Akins
President, State Bar of Georgia
