Georgia legal community mourns loss of Van Pearlberg

Marietta Daily Journal

To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Marietta attorney and public servant Irvan Alan “Van” Pearlberg on his passing at the age of 72.

A Georgia Bar member since 1976, Mr. Pearlberg served as a major felony prosecutor under four district attorneys of Cobb County and, for the final decade of his career, as director of the Medicaid Fraud Unit of the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, recovering tens of millions of dollars for the state treasury. He was known for mentoring younger attorneys and also served his community as a member of the Marietta City Council and Water Authority.

Van Pearlberg will be missed and fondly remembered by his fellow members of Georgia’s legal community. We appreciate his career-long dedication and the many contributions he made through his service to the public and the justice system.

Sincerely,

J. Antonio “Tony” DelCampo
President, State Bar of Georgia
