Fastcase News

Fastcase, a member benefit of the State Bar of Georgia, democratizes the law, making it more accessible to more people. Using patented software that combines legal research with web search, Fastcase helps busy users sift through the clutter, ranking the best cases first and enabling the re-sorting of results to find answers fast. Log on to the members' only area of the State Bar's website to get started.

Download Apps For Your iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch

Fastcase offers free iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch apps with the ability to search case law and statutes with a variety of search options. Download Fastcase for the iPhone, iPad and iTouch from iTunes as described here: www.fastcase.com/iphone/

Moblie Sync

Fastcase has now added a new feature - Mobile Sync which securely synchronizes a user’s favorite documents, favorite jurisdictions and search history between apps (Fastcase for the iPhone, iPad and iTouch) and their desktop versions of Fastcase. To begin using Mobile Sync, simply log in to Fastcase through your member benefit account and follow these quick and easy steps: www.fastcase.com/mobile-sync.

Bad Law Bot

Bad Law Bot is an enhancement to the Authority Check feature to show you where courts have noted that a case has been treated negatively (i.e., reversed or overruled on any grounds). Bad Law Bot then flags those cases that have negative citation history and provides you with the links to those cases.

Multi-Jurisdictional Statute Searching

Fastcase Statute Searching has changed. Previously users could select and search only one state at a time. Now, one can conduct a multi-jurisdictional search of the federal and state statues. Simply select Search Statute and choose to search by "key word" or "browse" mode. Select any or all statues and the U.S. Code either from the menu in "key word" or from an expandable list in the "browse" view.

Case Summaries

Fastcase has partnered with Justia to provide free access to summaries of state and federal court opinions to all users of the Fastcase online library database. Justia, a legal media and technology company, has been drafting concise summaries of breaking court opinions written by licensed attorneys since March 2011. The summaries are added daily to all opinions from state supreme courts, the U.S. Supreme Court and federal circuit courts of appeal, and made available for no additional charge to all Fastcase users.
