To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to attorney and longtime state government official Robyn A. Crittenden on her appointment by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve as commissioner of the Georgia Department of Revenue.

A member of the Georgia Bar since 1990, Ms. Crittenden is the state’s first African-American commissioner of the Department of Revenue. Before this appointment, she served as commissioner of the Georgia Department of Human Resources. In 2018, she was appointed as Georgia’s secretary of state, filling the unexpired term of Gov. Kemp, who had resigned from that office to run for governor.

Her prior experience in the legal profession includes service as general counsel at Morehouse College, assistant vice chancellor of legal affairs-contracts for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, assistant county attorney for DeKalb County, and in private practice.

With her acceptance of this appointment, Commissioner Crittenden demonstrates her continue commitment to serving the public. We wish her well in this new capacity of statewide leadership.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
