Atlanta – Four attorneys and two judges from DeKalb County were elected, re-elected or appointed to serve on the Board of Governors of the 52,000-member State Bar of Georgia and were installed June 4.

DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Stacey K. Hydrick of Decatur will continue to serve in the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit, Post 1 seat on the board, representing DeKalb County. She earned her law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1992. She also serves as vice chair of the Investigative Panel of the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission.

DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Shondeana C. Morris of Decatur will continue to serve in the Post 3 seat from the Stone Mountain Circuit. She is a graduate of the Mercer University Walter F. George Law School and joined the State Bar in 1997. She is the current chair of the State Bar’s Suicide Prevention & Awareness Committee. Morris also serves on the Georgia Commission on Continuing Lawyer Competency, as well as the Finance, SOLACE, BASICS and Wellness committees. She is a past chair of the Gate City Bar Association Judicial Section.  

Keith E. Adams of Keith Adams & Associates LLC in Decatur was elected to serve in the Post 5 seat from the Stone Mountain Circuit. He graduated from Tulane University Law School and became a State Bar member in 1993. His law practice is focused in the areas of criminal defense and personal injury cases. 

John G. Haubenreich, of counsel with Tate & Betts LLP in Atlanta, will continue to serve in the Post 7 seat from the Stone Mountain Circuit. He earned his law degree from the Emory University School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar in 1976. He practices in the areas of corporate and business litigation, general civil litigation, personal injury and corporate law. He is a past president of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta and past chair of the State Bar’s Disciplinary Rules and Procedures Committee.

Stone Mountain Circuit District Attorney Sherry Boston of Decatur will continue to serve in the circuit’s Post 9 seat. She is a graduate of the Emory University School of Law and joined the State Bar in 1999. She is a past chair of the State Disciplinary Board and previously served as Municipal Court judge for the city of Dunwoody, associate Magistrate Court judge for DeKalb County and Solicitor-General of DeKalb County.

Michael A. Prieto of Prieto Marigliano Holbert & Prieto LLC in Dunwoody was appointed to serve in the board’s Member-At-Large, Post 3 seat. He earned his law degree from Loyola (Louisiana) University Law School and was admitted to the State Bar in 1998. His law practice is focused on nursing home wrongful death cases. Prieto is a past president and current Executive Council member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and serves on the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice. He is also a lieutenant colonel in the Georgia Army National Guard, serving as command judge advocate for the 201st Regional Support Group.

The Board of Governors is the 160-member policymaking authority of the State Bar, with representation from each of Georgia’s judicial circuits. The board holds regular meetings at least four times per year.
