Georgia legal community mourns loss of Denny Galis

To the Editor:
The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Athens attorney Denny C. Galis on his passing at the age of 86.
A member of the Georgia Bar since 1959, Mr. Galis was engaged in private law practice and served as attorney for the City of Athens and, later, the unified government of Athens-Clarke County. A leader among his peers, he also served his profession as a valued member of the State Bar of Georgia Board of Governors for several decades.
Denny Galis’ exemplary career of service is an inspiration to all Georgia lawyers. We appreciate and will remember his many contributions to the justice system in our state.
